Rachel and Ricky’s Monet Monet wedding was so romantic, from their sweet garden ceremony to their gorgeous Grayton Beach sunset session to possibly the most beautiful first dance footage we’ve ever shot! The timing for the light through the trees was UNREAL.
Rachel & Ricky’s love story in Ricky’s own words:
Living two and half hours away from one another and making good on my word, I would make the drive to see her and spend every available moment I had getting to know this incredible woman. Our attraction quickly grew from purely physical to intellectual, ultimately to an assurance grounded in spirituality (it was Rachel who helped guide me along my spiritual journey to committing my life to Jesus Christ). Our first date consisted of going to church and a hike along a trail to an elegant fallen log carved with art. A few memorable adventures together include breaking into a minor league baseball stadium and walking around the field, staying in a cabin and hiking the beautiful trails of western North Carolina, and attending a family wedding where I got the privilege to meet Rachel’s family the first time.
Fast forward to the summer of 2022, I decided to leave the Marine Corps and join the Army to become an aviator. This meant I would leave North Carolina and move to Alabama. With everything going well in Rachel’s life, she left her security bubble and took a great leap of faith to be with me before ever being proposed. That fall, Rachel’s mother, Sara Jean, visited as I returned home to help pack our things before the movers came. I took Sara for a stroll along the trail I hiked with Rachel on our first date. Rachel’s father passed away when she was very young, so I felt it was fitting to ask Sara for her daughter’s hand in marriage.
After completing my initial training to become an army warrant officer, I collaborated with Sara Jean to purchase the engagement ring Rachel has always wanted. I returned to North Carolina shortly after that to solidify my love and intentions with ‘My Person.’ So, I purchased a hand-crafted log cut in half with the words ‘Marry Me’ engraved on the flat side. I asked her friends to assist me with placing the log along the trail where we had our first date and to capture it on video with champagne on standby. She said yes! And the rest is history in the making.
It’s like a cherry on top of an already beautiful wedding when a couple knows how just to BE together, both romantically and having fun together! After all the serious stuff was done, they had a blast celebrating with their favorite people at Monet Monet. This might be the twirliest couple we’ve ever had! And Ricky didn’t just twirl his bride—anyone on the dance floor was fair game! It was a privilege to capture how much they and their families really love each other, including Ricky and his new mother-in-law—don’t miss them all fooling around on the dance floor!
